Fernweh and Freedom: Following our Hearts to Aurora's Realm
Welcome to our greatest adventure yet! We're hitting the road again with our trusty wiener dog Lieba riding shotgun as we embark on our most ambitious journey: a 3-4 month odyssey from Virginia to Alaska via the breathtaking Canadian wilderness. While this marks our forth major cross-country camping expedition, it's our first time venturing through the Great White North, driven by that deep longing the Germans call Fernweh—homesick for places we've never been before, and we honestly have no clue what route we'll take home (half the fun, right?). Our home-on-wheels will have us staying at rugged boondocking sites, scenic BLM land, welcoming state parks, and charming Harvest Host locations where we'll sample local wines, meet farmers, and dive deep into the authentic flavors of each region we explore. From challenging hikes through the legendary Canadian Rockies to chasing the elusive Northern Lights across Alaska's vast skies, we're ready to embrace whatever adventures—and misadventures—await us on the road less traveled. Buckle up and join us as we prove that age is just a number, good company (even the four-legged kind) makes every mile memorable, and the best stories come from the journeys you never fully planned but always dreamed about.
